Traian Băsescu, fostul preşedinte al României, susţine că Republica Moldova este într-o situaţie extrem de dificilă din cauza “unor politicieni care se dau proeuropeni şi fac, voluntar sau involuntar, jocurile Moscovei”.
Băsescu îl consideră principal vinovat pe oligarhul Vladimir Plahotniuc, despre care spune că “face jocurile şi încearcă să iasă premier al Republicii Moldova prin orice mod posibil, chiar dacă preşedintele Nicolae Timofit refuză acest lucru, tocmai din cauza afacerilor lui Plahotniuc şi a legăturilor pe care acesta le are cu Moscova”.
Pe de altă parte, Traian Băsescu nu este mulţumit nici de modul în care România se implică în această problemă sub conducerea lui Klaus Iohannis. “România trebuia să se implice mai mult. Să transmită punctul de vedere către partidele proeuropene. Este clar că la Bucureşti se manifestă o diferenţă inacceptabilă. Nu ar trebui să ne băgăm niciodată în treburile unui stat independent. Dar atâta timp cât Federaţia Rusă este călare pe ei, cu mass-media, cu oameni politici, cu bani, cu tot, tu stai în România şi priveşti în zare să vezi ce-o ieşi la Chişinău. Dacă Republica Moldova a făcut progrese, le-a făcut pentru că România nu a stat să contemple ci a încercat să echilibreze influenţa rusă”, a spus Traian Băsescu, într-o intervenţie avută la B1 TV.
Fostul preşedinte al României a ţinut să atragă atenţia asupra faptului că “Moldova este în pragul colapsului, din cauza dificultăţilor cu care se face instalarea unui guvern solid, iar ţara are mare nevoie de un împrumut de 60 de milioane de euro din partea României”.
