După ce Comitetul Executiv al Partidului Social Democrat a votat propunerea lui Mihai Tudose ca premier, reprezentanții ALDE și-au dat și ei acordul pe această propunere.
Tudose a fost votat în Comitetul Executiv al PSD cu majoritate de voturi, existând și patru abțineri, Nicolae Bădălău, președintele executiv, Paul Stănescu, președintele PSD Olt, Codrin Ștefănescu, secretarul general adjunct, și Marian Mina, președintele Consiliului Județean Giurgiu.
Tăriceanu a confirmat că Tudose a fost aprobat și de reprezentanții ALDE, dar liderul acestei formațiuni politice a refuzat să comenteze trecutul sumbru al lui Tudose.
Încă actualul ministru al Economiei, Tudose este considerat un om al serviciilor, dându-și inclusiv doctoratul la o unitate controlată de SRI.
Însă Tăriceanu este de părere că “nu trebuie să ne bazăm pe speculații și bârfe când analizăm o persoană. În zilele trecute am făcut o evaluare a posibilelor candidaturi, discutasem şi rămăsese această candidatură, care înţeleg că a fost votată în CExN al PSD, iar colegii mei au fost de acord să susţină această candidatură”.
