Românii din Austria i-au cerut, duminică, demisia cancelarului Karl Nehammer, protestând chiarîn fațabiroului său, revoltați de votul dat de această țară împotriva intrării României în spațiul Schengen.
La protest au participat în jur de 200 de români, familii mixte, dar și câțiva austrieci, nemulțumiți de atitudinea cancelarului față de poporul român, potrivit FADERE – Federația asociațiilor de români din Europa.
Românii din Austria i-au transmis un mesaj clar de nemulțumire premierului austriac, arătând că sunt prezenți în Austria, că acolo lucrează, acolo își plătesc taxele (unii dintre ei de mai mult de 45 de ani) și contribuie împreună cu poporul austriac la prosperitatea țării.
„Datorită bunelor relații dintre cele două popoare, datorită miliardelor de euro care ies din România prin firmele austriece, datorită lemnului cărat în Austria ani de zile, datorită comunității de români atât de bine integrată, cât și a multor altor motive, votul favorabil pentru intrarea României in spatiul Schengen este o normalitate, nu o cerere din partea noastră, iar dacă nu puteți să exprimați corect acest lucru, trebuie să plecați acasă”.
Acesta a fost mesajul unanim transmis de manifestanții din fața cancelariei, scandând „rücktritt, rücktritt – demisia, demisia“.
La sfârșitul protestului, organizatorii au redactat o scrisoare către Cancelarul Karl Nehammer în care s-a cerut reevaluarea urgentă a poziției lui. „Este poate pentru prima dată când românii din țară s-au unit cu cei din diaspora, într-un glas, pentru binele poporului român. În țările europene locuiește o comunitate însemnată de români, iar ceea ce s-a întâmplat ieri la Viena ar trebui să fie un semnal clar și pentru alte țări care ar cocheta cu votul negativ împotriva intrării României în spațiul Schengen”, a declarat Daniel Tecu, președintele FADERE – Federația asociațiilor de români din Europa.
